[lugm.org] Visibility and awareness of LUGM

Relax Aadil. :-D

It's a bit unwarranted criticism to paint a black and white picture of whether
LUGM meets its objectives or not (I'm not a member of the managing
committee).

I do occasionally hang out on #linux.mu, and except for Vy-Shane who shows
up from time to time, it's more or less inactive. 

There's some truth in what Jochen says about the cathedral model of the current
group. This is something I talked about privately quite a few times. The cathedral
model works as long as the core group can manage everything by itself. It's quite
the opposite right now however. If the senior members would delegate a bit that
could really help :-D.

This partly lead to the birth of groups like drupal.mu, Mauritius Blog machin... . LUGM
is perceived as an elite group of Linux Ninjas, and we're a pretty closed organization.

For once, I'd welcome a change where people who can _really_ afford to devote time
to LUGM matters are selected to be part of the managing committee. No, I'm not preparing myself for the next elections :-D. I have too little free time of my own these days, and I'd welcome people like  for e.g Shaan Nobee (who has both time and skills) to be part of the managing committee, and I think it's a sensible choice. The
managing committee should not be perceived as a glamurous position, but rather
as a necessity that needs to be done by people who have both the time and energy to do it properly.

[Shaan has already identified a 16-yrs guy who runs Linux servers, and wants to invite
him to the next meeting. It's a pretty good thing IMO :-D]

I think you went in a different direction here, Ronny.

And besides, what is all the issue with getting newbies?  Do we get points
for that?  We have other objectives also, which we also failed as a
managing committee.
