I had to make a difficult choice in choosing between a notebook with
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit & SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11.
I badly needed a notebook with RS-232 port due to nature of work & the
only notebook available with RS-232 was the HP ProBook 6560b.
HP ProBook 6560b with Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit - MUR 35,999
HP ProBook 6560b with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 - MUR 28,999
7K in excess for a Windows 7 License without software assurance &
support, no way!
The notebook was factory preloaded with SLED 11 & has a lifetime license
which entitles to updates as well as new releases. To run windows apps
such as Visio, i use crossover which is worth its 59 USD.
No one killed the Linux Desktop, instead manufacturers such as HP are
promoting the use of Linux Desktop
