[lugm.org] Swift to be open sourced

Hi Nayar,

In essence, Apple is releasing the Swift compiler as open source software.
As far as I know, it uses LLVM as a backend and the latter is already open
source software. Apple is also releasing the Swift standard library as open
source software. This will be done in a few weeks.

This is a good thing for open source fans.

As a Linux user, for the time being at least, Swift is not really relevant
(as it is used mainly for developing iOS apps). But, who knows, it might
become the next replacement for, say, C or C++ (in the same way Rust and Go
aspire to) as it seems to be a very well designed compiled programming
language.

For me, I'm looking forward to discover it and having some fun :-)
