Hi Ish,

I admire your intentions to provide this kind of directory of "Who's
who" in Linux services but LUGM isn't a free ride.
The association has expenses to cover. Furthermore, this would help
funding of upcoming events like the Linuxfest, getting banners or
stand-ups for InfoTech, etc.

Corporate members have currently no "benefit" at all. And quite frankly,
I think that having another page of simply listed companies contradicts
anyone paying for corporate membership. So, instead of just publishing
that list, approach those companies and suggest the corporate membership
to them. The LUGM needs funds and sponsors for upcoming events and the
existing website is definitely one of the best options to have an
"income" for paying members.

As a business owner (okay, not having a corporate membership but I
considered it), I would immediately cancel and even ask for a pro-rata
refund if such a list would appear on the LUGM website. ;-)

I mean, what's the big deal about spending for year long exposure on the
LUGM website for a professional company? If they would advertise in the
newspaper it would be at least the same amount and higher for just one day.

Please, don't mix up free service and business.
Companies earn their money with free software, no (or low) cost
licensing, and have tax benefits on advertising or contributing.

Don't give freeloaders a space to grow.

And, getting in touch with the WP professionals would easily generate a
plugin that would allow the possibility to hand out user accounts (in a
dedicated user group) and textual restrictions (~ 500 words as suggested
by Avinash sounds good) can be applied, too.

Just my 2 cents.
