minor nit:
the motorola droid (sold in the EU and mauritius as the milestone) also has a hard keyboard: http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/XZ-EN/Consumer-Products-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/MOTO-XT720-XZ-EN
the keyboard in v2 was recessed to minimise marking on the screen; it's just as responsive as v1 though.

if you didn't care about 720p video capture, then the v1 phone is very usable, and probably quite cheap now; a colleague paid Rs15K at the *beginning* of last year; which was 5K less than i had paid about 6 months earlier - i image it's about half (of 15) now. i used it for a while and loved the phone, but didn't quite appreciate random applications from the market crashing. (the phone itself was very solid though).

note that i didn't try to jailbreak it - phones and laptops work in production and 'hack/toy pairs' and this was my production phone at the time.
the phone still in use with a friend.
