I'm a huge fan of the upcoming Samsung Captivate Glide.

It has some really amazing specs and a nice keyboard (I'm still not used
to virtual keyboards).

The issue that me avoid HTC was the quality of the build: HTC Desire S has a
hinge problem and HTC did not make any attempt at fixing it.

At $444, I'd say it's a really nice unit :-)

Thanks for replies,

Actually I'm not able to get to ClockWork Recovery. If i choose recovery from bootloader menu, phone gets in a bootloop.

I even used RUU to get to froyo and even gingerbread this did not solve my problem.

I was asked by an xda expert to do following:

fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

where recovry.img is clockwork image

this still did not solve my problem. based on my google search, the last conclusion that can be drawn is that its a hardware fault because many complaints regarding bootloop have been posted.

Regarding partition stuff, I resized sd card. 1.5gb fat32, 512mb ext4, 32 mb swap....ahh same problem..... like I said, I took a day off just to fix the phone lol..

Maybe i'll have to get a new phone. Which one would you suggest between:
1. htc evo 3d ($400 on ebay)
2. htc inspire 4g ($339 on ebay)

Forget samsung...my budget is limited

Regarding my requirements:
-Facebook
-sms of course
-wifi/3g/gprs
-camera
-exploiting development capabilities
-gps

Thanks.

I've been using Titanium Backup for some time now (see http://matrixrewriter.com/android/) and it works great!
