Subject: [lugm.org] Seminar on Open-Source Software on Wednesday 9 March 2011

Dear all,

I'm happy to tell you that we are officially organising a Seminar on Open-Source Software on Wednesday 9 March 2011. I have just received an email from higher spheres confirming this... Here are the co-organisers:

(1) The Linux Group of Mauritius (yeah!!!)

(2) The University of Mauritius and, more specifically, the Efficient Computing research group of the Department of Computer Science (http://cse.uom.ac.mu/node/27)

(3) L'Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (http://www.auf.org/)

The one-day Seminar will take place at the University of Mauritius and most of the cost will be born by the AUF. LUGM has a major role to play in the organisation as well as on the day of the Seminar.

I am contacting Mr Navuth Tep, Director of AUF operations in Mauritius, and Mr Anwar Chutoo, Team Leader of the Efficient Computing research group, right away to ask for a meeting beginning of next week to discuss about the things to do during the coming weeks. (Some) Members of the Managing-Committee should ideally be present.

Like we discussed before, the seminar will be in two parts (1) presentations on OSS (and, I understand, some of the presentations need to be in French (this is a special request of the AUF...)) and (2) a demonstration on some PCs of how powerful OSS is. This is Ajay's idea BTW.

For once, let's do something major :-)
